Hero Labradors exists to strengthen the foundation of the service dog community by purpose-breeding exceptional Labrador Retrievers and providing them, at no cost, to qualified nonprofit service dog organizations.
We believe that changing lives begins long before a dog wears a service vest. It begins with careful planning, responsible breeding, veterinary care, early development, and a commitment to producing dogs with the health, temperament, and confidence needed to succeed.
By investing in the very beginning of a service dog's journey, we help our partner organizations focus their time and resources on training, placement, and changing lives.
The Challenge
Training a service dog requires thousands of hours of work and a significant financial investment. Yet even the best trainers cannot create a successful service dog from a puppy lacking the health, temperament, or aptitude for the work.
Finding exceptional candidates remains one of the greatest challenges facing nonprofit service dog organizations.
That is where Hero Labradors comes in.

We are not a service dog training organization.
We are not a traditional breeder.

Every breeding decision, veterinary examination, socialization experience, and developmental milestone is made with one goal in mind:
Giving every puppy the best possible opportunity to become an outstanding service dog.
Before the Vest
Long before a service dog learns to retrieve medication, interrupt PTSD episodes, guide a handler safely through daily life, or provide life-changing independence, someone must first create the right dog.
That work happens quietly.
Often unseen.
But it is one of the most important parts of the entire service dog journey.
